“Trespassers will be shot. Survivers will be reshot!! Smile I will.” – Gale Muhs
Their battlecry was popularized after the 2007 Pasadena shooting where watchful neighbor Joe Horn shot two men, who were robbing his neighbor, in their backs.
Sheila Muhs then called 911 and told the dispatcher: “They’re out here tearing up the levee, so I shot them.”
Liberty County Chief Deputy Ken DeFoor said Sheila Muhs fired a 12-gauge shotgun once, then handed it to her husband, who also fired once.
“The levee belongs to the subdivision and was not private property,” DeFoor said.
Donald Coffey Jr., 7, died from gunshot wounds he received when from the Muhs rampage. Three other people were injured.
Investigators say the couple shot his and his family because they mistakenly believed they were trespassing.
